An Opinion | Because his name was Omar

DISCLAIMER

This is my personal opinion, based on my reading of the news reports from the CBC News Online website.

While this is an adult themed site, I still live in the real world, and sometimes, well I just can’t stay silent.

You know what has me worried, beyond the obvious?

It is the rush to judgement, that simply because this nut job, who killed 50 (or more) is automatically assumed to be some terrorist, associated with radical Islamic groups.  And why? All because his name is Omar.

I know, at first glimpse that seems to be the way people react, but would it be the same if his name wasn’t Omar?

No one knows yet, what motivated this person to rush into a Gay nightclub and begin a bloodbath.

What we do know, is he was outraged at seeing two guys kissing days earlier, and we also know he had the legal right to carry those weapons.

We also know he was interviewed three times on terrorist suspicions, but no evidence existed to confirm those concerns.

Yet now he is being portrayed as some typical Muslim terrorist.

What if his name was Shamus?

Would we automatically assume he was a member of the IRA and would Presidential Candidates seek to refuse any Irish Immigrants?

What if his name was Ivan?

Would we automatically assume he was a member of some nefarious Russian mob, and so refuse immigration from any Russians?

How about if his name was Moshe?

Would we assume he was Jewish and part of the Jewish Defence League and so ban immigrants from Israel or of Jewish descendents?

In the 1930’s another candidate for Head of State found that if he could find someone to blame for his country’s problems, he could easily win election, and he choose two classes of people who weren’t very well liked, at the time. He promised to keep them out of his Country, out of holding any sway economically or politically too, and so began the rush to a Second World War.

Adolph Hitler knew how to work a crowd, how to get people frightened of others who were different, like the Jews and the Communists. He promised to make Germany Strong again, to have Germany regain its place in the World.

Kind of sound familiar doesn’t it?

I am not a citizen of the United States, plus I am certainly not a fan of a two-party system, because you don’t get a lot of choices for Leader.  Neither Hilary or Donald excite me, or give me confidence that the World is going to become safer, if either get elected this coming November.

In fact, the more I read of Herr Donald, the more I see of his supporters turning to violence during his rallies, attacking those who disagree with him, the more I recall the horror of World War II and all that ensued, because one man knew the buttons to push, to get himself and his clique elected to power.

A man legally purchased and used a gun that has no place on the streets of any nation. He deliberately entered a gay nightclub and murdered at least 49 people, and simply because his name was “Omar” a whole race is now being targeted.

In the end, no one wins, when racism and hatred are the guiding force behind action. Omar Mateen was a murderer, and the issue isn’t immigration, isn’t even gun control, but instead is about a failure to accept those who are different.

By denying entry to a group simply because of their religion, goes against everything a true Democracy stands for, and in the end, when you go down that path, you wind up being no different from all those whose goal is to kill you.

The enemy isn’t Muslims, Jews, Palestinians, Catholics, Protestants, Mormons, Latinos, Mexicans, or any race or creed.

The real enemy is giving into Hate.

Omar gave into his hate, and so he killed 49 innocent people.

The question is:  Will America give into its hate, as Donald Trump seems to want, or will it reject Hate?

I guess I’ll find out come this November, but I do pray and hope, that Americans will reject Hate.

About Daddy Sweet Tooth

I am a retired 'white collar' gentlemen who managed to put aside enough money, that I can now indulge my true pleasure in life... eighteen and older young men. I am not a sex nut, just someone who believes sex does not end at 65. I may not always get what I desire, but then, I have a very good imagination, that helps me enjoy what I cannot physically have.
